Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 Flexes Its Muscles At The Nurburgring – CarBuzz


Mercedes-AMG is already working on hotter versions of the baby G Wagon.

Mercedes has finallypulled the covers off the all-new GLB crossoverwith styling inspired by the G-Class and seating for seven. In the US, the baby G Wagon will initially go on sale in the “250” flavor with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 221 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. For those who want more power, theGLB will also spawn hot AMG versions including an AMG 35and range-topping AMG 45. The AMG 35 will arrive first, which has been caught by our spies attacking the Nurburgring. While the prototype is covered in camouflage, it’s not difficult to imagine what AMG’s upgraded GLB will look like.

At the front, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 is sporting some aggressive air intakes, along with a sportier front bumper, a distinctive AMG grille and wider side sills. The dual exhaust pipes also confirm this isn’t a standard Mercedes GLB crossover. Other sporty upgrades will include stiffer suspension and beefier brakes to complement the SUV’s extra muscle under the hood.

Being based on the same platform as the new A-Class means we can expect the GLB 35 to pack the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that debuted in the A35 hatchback, which sends 301 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

0-62 mph will most likely take around five seconds with top speed limited to 155 mph.Mercedes-AMG is also cooking up an even hotter GLB 45that will increase the output to 416 hp and 369 lb-ft in the flagship GLB 45 S model.
